Unitar Pintar now known as Umtech

PETALING JAYA: The Unitar Pintar Campus is now officially known as University of Management and Technology.

The renaming plan began to take shape early this year and was finally approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) on July 4.

The new name allows greater clarity and inclusiveness of the institution which in short will be known as Umtech (pronouced uem-tech).

The university is dedicated to addressing the global human capital needs in the 21st century.

It is through the multidisciplinary nature of the university that Umtech envisions to create an environment which would produce sufficient talent to sustain economic growth. All programmes are approved by MOHE.

Umtech will have a strong and significant network of academic collaborations with universities from around the world and the programmes offered will be professionally aligned and incorporate close collaboration with major industry players through the Annual Roundtable Conference and appointment of Faculty Advisors.

The university will use English as the medium of instruction to cater for the needs of Malaysian students as well as international students from Asean countries, North Asia, India, the Middle East and Central Asia, who are increasingly choosing Malaysia as their education destination.

The first enrolment of students will be in January Semester 2012 targeting a student number of 1,000. Umtech will commence its operations from the main campus at Leisure Commerce Square, Petaling Jaya.

In addition to the main campus, Umtech also has Regional Centres in Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Melaka, Ipoh, Penang, Alor Star, Kota Bharu and Johor Bahru.
